CHC42021 Overview
Certificate IV in Community Services
The CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services is a nationally recognised qualification for community services workers who are ready to take on greater autonomy, deliver advocacy and case work, and supervise others. Available online and Australia-wide, it builds the practical skills and professional knowledge needed to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people across housing, mental health, disability, multicultural services, financial counselling, youth work, and domestic and family violence support.
At this level you'll deliver person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities — providing support, advocacy or interventions within established legal and ethical parameters, and applying skills in line with Commonwealth and State legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
To complete the qualification, students complete a total of 15 units (7 core + 8 elective). The average completion time is 12 to 18 months. While there are no formal entry requirements, it is recommended that students hold a Certificate III in Community Services or Certificate III in Individual Support, or have relevant industry experience.
Delivered face-to-face, blended or fully online with practical placement support across Australia.
