CHC43315 Overview
Certificate IV in Mental Health
The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health is a nationally recognised qualification for workers providing recovery-oriented support to people affected by mental illness and psychosocial disability. Available online and Australia-wide, it gives you the skills to deliver person-centred, trauma-informed support across community, outreach, residential, rehabilitation and clinical settings.
You'll learn how to establish self-directed recovery relationships, work collaboratively with care networks, support people with co-existing mental health and AOD issues, respond to crisis and risk of suicide, and promote social, emotional and physical wellbeing. The program also covers cultural safety, ethical and legal practice, and self-advocacy.
Workers in this role typically operate autonomously under the broad guidance of other practitioners and professionals. The qualification is highly relevant for psychosocial roles supporting NDIS participants and is a strong stepping stone toward case management and supervisory positions.
To achieve the qualification, you must complete a minimum of 80 hours of vocational placement. Delivered online, blended or face-to-face with practical placement support across Australia.
