CHC43515 Overview
Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
The CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work is a nationally recognised qualification for people who have lived experience of mental illness — as either a consumer or carer — and want to use that experience to support others in their recovery. Available online and Australia-wide, the course is designed for existing or aspiring peer workers in community services, mental health, NDIS-funded services, residential rehabilitation, outreach and clinical settings.
You'll build on your lived experience with formal training in trauma-informed care, self-advocacy, peer work practices, working with diverse people, and supporting people with co-existing mental health and AOD issues. The qualification gives your lived experience professional weight and opens doors to consumer and carer peer roles across Australia.
The course is delivered in classroom, virtual classroom and self-paced (distance) modes — choose the option that fits your work, life and study preferences.
To complete the qualification, students complete 15 units (8 core + 7 elective) plus 80 hours of vocational placement.
